Heather Thomas Shalabi became a Pilates devotee 15 years ago, after moving to Hong Kong. Her recognition of the benefits of Pilates, and passion for the discipline led her to embark on intensive training, completing her full Studio certification through Polestar in 2003. After working in Hong Kong clubs and studios for two years, Heather opened Flex Studio in January of 2005. Pre and Post Natal conditioning through Pilates and the Gyrotonic Expansion System is an area Heather has studied extensively, having practiced both systems of movement regularly during her first and second pregnancies. Heather's interest in movement and the body stems from her decade-long training in classical ballet whilst a young girl, and subsequent daily yoga practice whilst living in New York City in the 1990’s. Recently Heather has embarked on the study of Traditional Pilates, studying under Benjamin Degenhardt and his 360°Pilates Continuing Education program, which she hosts every year in Hong Kong. She also leads workshops annually around Asia.

Anna Serafinas Luk graduated from London's Rambert School of Ballet before dancing as a soloist with the Essen Ballet Company, Germany and later with the Bavarian State Ballet in Munich. In 1987 she obtained her diploma in dance education with distinction from the Royal Academy of Dance in London and lectured at various performing arts schools in the United Kingdom before settling in Hong Kong in 1991. She was the Ballet Mistress for the Hong Kong Ballet from 1992-1995 and has since been a guest teacher there as well as serving as a member of that institute's Artistic Advisory Committee. Anna's love of Pilates stems from her early introduction to the method in London as a dance student. Her interest in the field has continued to expand over the years, leading to her partnership Heather Thomas Shalabi in the establishment of Flex in 2005. Anna also teaches the adult advanced Ballet class as well as the Gifted Young Dancers Programme at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.Certified Polestar® Pilates Instructor Mat and Studio; ARAD dip PDTC
Anna is also a certified Xtend Barre instructor and has been a master trainer for Xtend Barre since 2013.
Victoria taught Pilates for seven years in London, before moving to Hong Kong in the spring of 2009; she was recruited to work at Flex Studio and has been one of the studio's Senior Instructors for the past year and a half. Her dedication to Pilates began at the age of 16 whilst at The Royal Ballet School. After a career performing and teaching ballet, she studied Pilates under the highly-regarded Alan Herdman and later, the Body Arts and Sciences method. Victoria's enthusiasm is at the core of her teaching style and she strives to constantly refine her knowledge of body movement, control and posture to tailor each session to the needs and goals of her clients.Certified; Body Arts and Science International (BASI), Alan Herdman, ARAD Dip RBSTC.
Originally from Taiwan, Fang started her classical ballet training at the age of 7 and lived abroad to pursue a career as a professional dancer. She danced with both ballet and contemporary dance companies in North America and Europe and toured extensively around the world before returning to Asia. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Conservatory of Dance at Purchase College, State University of New York and a Master of Fine Arts from the Hong Kong Academy for the Performing Arts.
Fang started practicing Pilates for rehabilitation purposes for a long-term injury, in addition to developing her physical condition for the performances. The benefits from the practice were rewarding, not only at a performance level, but also in daily life. This subsequently led Fang to pursue Pilates further in order to pass on her experience to others. She went on to advance her Pilates studies with the Polestar Teaching Certificate Training Course, and completed the Studio Comprehensive program in 2013.
With her background in dance, Fang likes to infuse her knowledge of movement and the Pilates concept into her workout.
A long-time Hong Kong resident, Lyndsay was a keen horse rider growing up and has always enjoyed keeping fit. A riding accident prompted her to take up Pilates as a means of rehabilitation, and she loved it so much she undertood certification with Physical Mind and Ron Fletcher. Lyndsay's wonderful training incorporates Fletcher's unique Towelwork, and she brings fluidity and dynamic energy to all of her sessions. Elvin obtained his BFA(Hons) in ballet and was a professional dancer with Hong Kong Ballet company for 7 years. In 2004, whilst at Hong Kong Ballet, Elvin certified in the Pilates BASI method and in 2006, received certification in Gyrotonic Expansion® System. He believes functional movement training is not only beneficial for rehabilitation, but also helps people understand their bodies better to prevent injury, get and stay fit, and improve overall well-being.
Karin is a fully qualified Pilates teacher who discovered and fell in love with Pilates when she moved to the UK in 1999 and started to practice Mat & Reformer Pilates as her fitness regime. Following her move to Asia, she decided to turn her passion for Pilates into a profession and embarked into teacher training courses. Karin is continually excited about and inspired by the broad spectrum of the population that Pilates relates to and how it can be tailored to address individual needs. Dedicated to her profession, Karin continues her education whenever possible and is committed to her own personal Pilates practice.
Rhonda Scott is a fully certified Polestar Pilates instructor, with extensive experience working in a Pilates studio and physical therapy practice in Sydney. From severe back injuries, to training triathletes and professional sportspeople, as well as pre and post natal women, Rhonda has worked with a vast spectrum of people, young and old.
Extremely passionate about her work, Rhonda recently moved to Hong Kong with her husband and two children and we are extremely pleased to have her join the Flex team.
Sally’s enthusiasm and passion for Pilates and personal training has been ongoing for the last 15 years. Her love of Pilates has led her to integrate all her knowledge into private training , group classes and Trios.
Originally trained in the Body Arts and Science Pilates Method with Rael in 2003, Sally’s training has extended to the Gyrotonic Expansion System and Core Align by Balance Body. This has bridged the arch and curl into many types of exercises from standing to sitting.
Pilates training incorporating all types of balance, fitness and core work is Sally’s most popular area of instruction. She is also certified with TRX, BOSU, Power Plate, Stability Ball Training, Foam Roller, Effective Strength Training for Women with Integrated Corrective Exercises. Sally is also a NASM and ACE certified personal trainer and group fitness instructor and has worked in Hong Kong’s leading clubs in the past.
Her extensive knowledge of working with pre and post natal women has taken her through many years of experience in this field one of which she can use from her own experience as a mum of two young sons whose sporting activities keep her on her toes!

Riel Bulos graduated from the Philippine High School for the Arts, majoring in Dance. During his stay at the academy, he was recognized and awarded as 'Artist of the Year'. Riel pursued his dance residency at Airdance, one of Philippines' premier and pioneering companies in Contemporary Dance and the Aerial Arts. Throughout his artistic endeavors, his quest to perfect his technique in movement nurtured a desire to seek a deeper understanding of the human body in motion. This propelled him to delve into the discipline of Pilates.
In 2011, Riel began training and shortly thereafter started another milestone in his career as a Pilates Instructor. Riel is a certified STOTT Pilates and Pilates Academy International (PAI) Instructor.
Riel is also certified aerial instructor.
Jessica holds a Masters of Science degree in Holistic Nutrition and has over a decade of experience working within the wellness industry. She became a registered yoga teacher in 2001 and it was her yoga journey that moved her to Asia in 2006 after being invited to work as a full-time instructor in Shanghai. During her time in China she also trained in Pilates becoming a certified Polestar Pilates Instructor in 2013 Jessica previously worked as the Wellness Director at one of Asia’s leading health resorts in Koh Samui, Thailand and managed Hong Kong’s largest natural medicine dispensary. Megan is a trained STOTT Pilates instructor and is also certified in TRX, Tabata Bootcamp, H.IIT, Above the Barre and On the Ball Training. She is a certified Holistic Health Coach, an Advanced Sports Nutrition Advisor and is certified in "MenoFitness", which encompasses nutritional and fitness issues that women face between the ages of 45-65. She excels at combining interval training with sports conditioning and Pilates to achieve maximum cross training benefits for her clients.
Meg ran her own studio in the U.S., and has taught in studios in Europe before moving and teaching in Hong Kong.
She is a competitive sailor and has completed many triathlons. As a Reiki master, Meg is a firm believer in the "art of going slow" in this hectic world.
Juliana grew up dancing Flamenco, Ballet and Tango at her mother’s studio in Argentina. Passionate about body movement, she obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education Teaching from Comahue National University. Soon after she graduated, Juliana became a Pilates Instructor and opened a Pilates and Spinning studio in Patagonia. In 2010 Juliana moved to New Zealand where she continued teaching Pilates and was later certified in Personal Training. She also lived and worked as a Pilates instructor in Singapore and Bangkok, and was formed as a Yoga Instructor in India. Juliana thrives on seeing her clients’ improvements through Pilates, and tailoring her teaching to individual needs. She is committed to constantly updating her knowledge and has participated in many STOTT and Polestar workshops over the years, amongst others.
Bonita has always been enthusiastic about movement and involved in various sports and fitness activities - dance, Muay Thai boxing, swimming, surfing and free diving.
After being injured while horse-riding, Bonita started practicing Pilates extensively to help reduce knee and lower back pain. Her growing passion for Pilates eventually led her to quit her office job and become a full-time Pilates mat, reformer and barre instructor.
Her teaching approach incorporates a mix of classical and contemporary Pilates to increase functionality and challenges. Fluent in English, Cantonese and French, she is able to engage with a wide variety of clients.

With over 10 years of teaching experience, Nicole is certified by the prestigious Australian Pilates Method Alliance, and has an impressive dance background. Also a certified personal trainer, Nicole has worked extensively with a wide range of clients from professional dancers, to rehabilitation clients, to pre/post natal mums. Merging technical excellence with a broad repertoire, Nicole brings a fresh perspective to her classes.
